Top 5 Benefits of Wireless Security Cameras

Wireless security cameras offer greater flexibility than regular security cameras. When you consider how affordable and powerful they are, wireless security cameras seem like the obvious choice for your home security system. To learn more, check out the top 5 benefits of wireless security cameras.

1. Wireless: The absolute number one benefit of a wireless security camera is the freedom from messy, inconvenient wires. Hanging wires make it harder to keep your camera hidden, which can lessen the security benefits. Wires also make a camera harder to install. Wireless security cameras are more discrete and don’t need to be placed near an outlet.

2. Simple to install: A camera with wires requires mounting. In order to hide the wires, you’ll  need to run them through the wall, which involves drilling holes. You may find that you need the help of an electrician. A wireless security camera can simply be set on a shelf. There’s virtually no installation process at all.

3. More options: There are no limits on where a wireless security camera can be placed. Because they run on a battery, you don’t need to worry about installing them near an outlet. That means you can cover every square inch of your property, something that’s not possible if you’re limited by electrical outlets. Also, they’re extremely easy to move, so you can change its position as frequently as you like.

4. Powerful receivers: Wireless security cameras are more high-tech than ever. Their receivers have ranges from several hundred feet to several miles. What’s even more impressive is that the receivers can actually penetrate walls. You can place the wireless security camera outside your home and the data will be picked up in any room in your house. The receivers can transmit through wood, glass, plastic, and even some metals.

5. Affordable: You might think a wireless security camera would be more expensive than a regular camera. In the end, however, a wireless security camera can actually cost less. You don’t need to purchase a mounting kit or deal with the expenses of drilling into walls.

As you can see, there are more benefits to wireless security cameras than just the lack of wires. If you want a camera that’s easy to use and offers practically limitless options for placement, then you definitely want a wireless security camera.

Security Cameras and Private Residences

Security cameras have long been an important weapon in the law enforcement arsenal. Eye witness testimony is notoriously unreliable, but a picture doesn’t lie. Retail establishments use security cameras to catch shoplifters and even keep an eye for employee theft. In recent years, red light cameras have become increasingly common, freeing up police resources.

It’s not just stores and police that make use of security cameras. Security cameras are showing up in private residences all over the country. They’re becoming more affordable, and there are security cameras to suit every need.

Why should you consider a security camera for your home?

There’s a common misconception that security cameras are only for businesses or those with large, expensive estates. The truth is, every home is safer with a security camera on the premises. They’re surprisingly affordable and simple to use.

Easy set-up: Today’s security cameras are very user-friendly. You can have it installed in just minutes without hiring a professional.

Inexpensive: Purchasing a security camera is more affordable than a security system. It’s a one-time cost, no need to subscribe to a monthly monitoring service.

Remote Viewing - Like a second set of eyes: With security cameras that connect to your home computer, you can connect to the Internet and view your property from anywhere. Also, you can set up your camera to send you an email or phone alert when motion is detected.

Full security coverage: With prices of security cameras lower than ever, you can afford to install multiple cameras throughout your property. You can protect your front and back entrances, as well as detached structures where you store valuable property, such as storage sheds.

Which security camera is right for you?

Before you purchase a security camera, ask yourself a few questions so that you can find the camera that’s right for your needs:

  • What purpose will your security camera serve?
  • Where will you place it?
  • What’s your budget?
  • Do you want the camera to be visible?

Here are some of the most common security cameras and what security needs they best serve:

Bullet cameras: Bullet cameras hold up well even in rough weather. If you want to monitor an outdoor area, this waterproof security camera can take the rain.

Dome cameras: These security cameras are more subtle. Consider a dome camera if you want your security camera to go unnoticed. Also, dome cameras won’t detract from the style and décor of the room.

Dummy cameras: Dummy cameras look like the real deal, but they don’t actually function. If you have a limited budget, dummy cameras dissuade criminal behavior without the hefty price tag.

IP cameras: IP cameras allow you to keep an eye on your property even when you’re away. Those who travel frequently will like the peace of mind that comes with being able to check in at any time. All you need is an Internet connection.

Spy cameras: Spy cameras are virtually undetectable. Choose this camera if you want to observe people completely off guard. Spy cameras are frequently used as “nanny cams.”

Wireless cameras: These security cameras can be placed anywhere. Wireless cameras are a good choice if you don’t want visible wires and don’t have the time or know-how to run the wires through the wall.

It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane…No, It’s a Flying Spy Camera

U.K. police have a new partner in combating crime, the Microdrone. According to a London newspaper, the Microdrone Spy Camera, a state-of-the-art aerial camera initially developed for the military, will soon be used by law enforcement in Liverpool.

At a size of only 2 feet in diameter, the Microdrone seems more like a toy than military equipment. Its eight rotor blades keep it hovering in the air like a miniature helicopter. The Microdrone isn’t child’s play, however. The spy camera is flown by a trained officer. It even requires special goggles. At up to 15 miles per hour, the Microdrone moves at an impressive speed.

Interestingly, though, the Microdrone Spy Camera is officially classified as a toy because of its low weight, meaning use of the spy camera doesn’t require clearance from the Civil Aviation Authority.

One reason the Microdrone is ideal for law enforcement use is that it will go entirely unnoticed by the average person. Not only is it small in size, it makes almost no noise as its flown and maneuvered over the city streets. This flying spy camera is also weatherproof, so law enforcement can use it year-round. Another benefit is that the Microdrone can be integrated with CCTV technology that’s already used in police vans and helicopters.

Though tiny, the Microdrone packs a big punch. With a range of 500 yards, this spy camera can perform surveillance over a large area, making it ideal for monitoring events that draw big crowds. The images returned by the Microdrone are of the highest quality, perhaps allowing for the identification of individuals despite photographing from high in the air.

For added performance, the Microdrone can be equipped with numerous accessories. For instance, a thermal imaging device can be attached, allowing officers to perform night-time surveillance or flush out criminals hiding in buildings or bushes. Speaking of crowd gatherings, the Microdrone can also be equipped with a loud speaker, giving police officers another way to keep crowds under control.

Clearly law enforcement officials are excited about the potential of the Microdrone Spy Camera, but how do citizens feel? There doesn’t seem to be a general consensus. Some find the spy camera reminiscent of George Orwell’s novel 1984, feeling that the eyes of “Big Brother” will always be on them.

Yet, as Assistant Chief Constable Simon Byrne points out, the Microdrone can be used in ways that benefit society without necessarily keeping them under constant surveillance. Byrne cites dealing with traffic congestion as a potential use for the spy camera.

Spy cameras in general used to be only fanciful dreams but they are toys from your dream no more. They are being used to fight crime all over the North America and Europe.  For more information about spy cameras please visit http://www.security-cameras-cctv.com/.

Why the Average Joe Needs Security Cameras

I’m an average Joe, you might be thinking. So why do I need a security camera?

According to the FBI, there were approximately 2,183,746 burglary offenses committed in the United States in 2006. And that number only reflects reported crimes. The actual number is much higher. Overall, there were almost 10 million property crimes committed in total. With crime rates like that, it’s clear that home owners should take security seriously.

Security cameras for everyday people like you and me

You don’t have to have millions of dollars, diamond jewelry, and priceless pieces of art to be targeted for a break-in. Even middle class families are the victims of robbery. In fact, burglars might consider middle-class neighbors better targets because they assume you don’t have any serious security systems in place.

Don’t become a statistic. Purchase one of today’s affordable, user-friendly security cameras. Most of us are non-techies, and the thought of picking out the right security camera seems overwhelming. Here’s a guide to the most common security cameras to get you pointed in the right direction.

Black and white security cameras: Black and white security cameras are probably the most common choice. Black and white footage will meet the needs of the average family. In fact, black and white cameras often offer better image quality than color security cameras. The resolution is higher, making it easier to enhance images for identification purposes.

Color security cameras: Because we’re used to watching movies and television in color, most people find color footage easier to view. Color footage can also enhance identification by enabling you to pinpoint hair color and perhaps even eye color of a perpetrator.

Wireless security cameras: A wireless security camera will likely cost a bit more than a standard security camera. As an average Joe, however, it’s probably worth the extra money because a wireless security camera will be much easier to install.

Dome security cameras: Dome security cameras are the security cameras frequently used in department stores. These cameras remain hidden, and some people prefer them because they don’t detract from the attractiveness of the room.

Board security cameras: Board security cameras are what are commonly known as “nanny cams.” These are the easiest cameras to hide, and are particularly good for observing activity within your home.

Bullet security cameras: For break-in protection, outdoor security cameras are an absolute must. You want to make sure that you purchase a camera that’s capable of standing up to the weather. Bullet security cameras are weatherproof and excellent for outdoor surveillance.

Security camera bonus features:
Most people think all security cameras work like this: you hook it up, it records the activity within its range of view, you watch the activity on a monitor, and review the tapes later if necessary. Sure, that’s one way to use security cameras, but today’s cameras offer lots of cool and convenient features.

Don’t want to climb up on a ladder to turn on your camera? No problem. Just buy a remote controlled camera. You can opt for cameras that record both picture and sounds. You can also select a camera that detects motion and only records when activity is picked up. These motion detection cameras can also be set up to provide you with alerts when potential disturbances are detected.

Break-ins and property destruction don’t make the headlines, but those crimes are very real, and they’re happening every day. Purchasing and installing a security camera is an easy and affordable way for everyday folks to increase their home security. Security systems aren’t just for the wealthy. The average Joe deserves a safe home, too.

Hidden Security Camera - Why Do You Need one?

Hidden cameras have been around for a long time. You see them every time you go to a store. They’re so common that we don’t even give them a second thought. Not surprisingly, most people have never considered whether they need a spy surveillance hidden security camera. To some, this could sound like an extreme measure. Really though, everyday people are using spy surveillance hidden security cameras in their homes for the protection they offer.

A spy surveillance hidden security camera is much like your typical security camera. It records the activity within its range of view. You can view the footage in real time on a computer or television monitor. You can also watch the tapes at a later date.

However, spy surveillance hidden security cameras differ in that they are extremely covert. They are intended to be completely invisible to the people being recorded. Once hidden, these cameras provide you with an extra set of eyes and can help you stop a potential disturbance before you become the victim of a crime.

As you already know, increased security is the top reason people purchase and install spy surveillance hidden security cameras. Security cameras are particularly common in businesses that are vulnerable to theft and robberies. Depending on a business’s security budget, they have a couple of options for monitoring the footage. Some businesses simply record the activity with the intent of using the tapes later should a crime occur. Other businesses hire someone to watch the activity on a monitor as it is happening. This second method is more effective for stopping crimes before they occur.

Obviously, the more spy surveillance hidden security cameras you use, the more areas you can monitor. That’s why some businesses have begun connecting their spy surveillance hidden covert DVR security cameras to a CCTV network. With a CCTV network, all you need is one monitor to observe the activity picked up by multiple cameras. You can switch back and forth between channels or watch multiple views simultaneously with a divided screen.

We all expect businesses to have security cameras, but it’s actually quite common for private individuals to install one or more spy surveillance hidden security cameras in their home. These hidden cameras are used by people who employ nannies or housekeepers to work in their home. You can use the spy camera to record what these employees are doing when you’re away from home. It’s an excellent way to ensure that your children are being well cared for and that your property is safe.

As you can see, just about everyone has a need for a spy surveillance hidden covert DVR security camera. When you make an investment in your safety and security, you want to do your homework. You have many options, so be sure to choose the hidden camera that meets your needs and fits within your budget.
